We think that it is right that we set out the values that are important to us as a church. These values determine our thinking, viewpoint and our way of life as a church. We want all that we do to be consistent with and to reflect our values.
We value (in no special order)
- Simplicity – We will do nothing for religious effect but operate in a natural, low-key way. We will focus on the main and plain.
- Integrity – It is important to us to speak the truth, deal honestly and live uprightly
- Being Led by the Holy Spirit – We want to be responsive to the leading of the Spirit in our planning, ministry and daily life
- Relationships – We want to develop a community where we value each other and our relationships with each other are marked by respect, acceptance, encouragement and patience.
- Cultural Relevance – We want to foster a relaxed atmosphere, be easy to understand and accessible to our culture.
- Generosity – We want to be generous to others with our time, money and resources. We want to give away as much as possible in order to bless people and advance the Kingdom of God.
- Risk Taking – Growing and developing always involves taking risks. We want to create an environment where people can have the courage to do a new thing, and where failure is not condemned but is seen as part of a learning process
- Being Teachable – We are all learning and growing and we want to be a church and people that is open to learn more, develop and change as God leads us.
- Serving Others – It is important that we all learn to serve one another and give of our time, talents and money to benefit the church and wider community.
- Unity – Our brothers and sisters are not our enemy. We will seek to relate to other each other and other churches in a way which is honouring and encourages peace and harmony.
- A Patient Determination to Press On – We value the strength of heart that will press on through difficult circumstances, determined to be true to the vision God has given us.
